We set off in fair weather and that’s as far as our luck held out!

Looking back for inspiration through the archives of the oracle that is the HWH3 website, interestingly I found that the Hash had run from this very same pub on the very same day 11 years previously.

In usual form our esteemed hares talked us through the pre-hash instructions in the car park and then we were off. It was a crisp and dry night as we set off at a good pace to try and warm up on our way towards Coleshill. If there was ever any doubt as to what Speedbump’s favourite number was, this was soon dispelled! There were more fours on this hash than an errant golfer.

No takers for the short this week and so we pushed on past Coleshill, nearly making it to the Harte and Magpies pub. Luckily we soon turned and headed in the direction of home, back up through Coleshill and eventually over to the other side of the Amersham road. On crossing back over the road the FRB’s, like moths to a flame, couldn’t resist the twinkling lights of Winchmore Hill in the distance. Unfortunately this was off piste and a long all back was required to get us on track again. From there it was a short jog back to the On Inn and the warm bosom of the pub.

The local darts team were as enthralled and perplexed as the rest of us to see the GM’s masterclass of plastic bag origami. Evidently the key is in the rule of 3, creating a very satisfying compact triangle.

The recorded distance not including on-backs for Tuesday night was 8.93km which seemed plenty long enough. The Hash from 11 years ago was recorded as a whopping 10.57km so no prizes for guessing who had set that one. Should have been measured in Ken-ometers!

Thanks Sarah and Speedbump for a fantastic route and an exquisitely set hash.
