Hummery: I must confess to a slight bias, having single-handedly raised this pub to national consciousness back in Dec-14. However, the landlady didn’t remember me, but did remember to put on an excellent spread, in our very own room, with great beers to boot - who could ask for more?

Overheard on the hash (18th August 2015)

“It’s 5.000 miles long…exactly, and we’ll be back for 9-sharp - trust me, I’m a doctor”  [8:55 and a long way from the pub….]  “How long was it again Dan….erm did I say exactly? Never trust a doctor” “The battery on my leg runs out at 4.95 miles - you’d better not be lying!” [Hawkeye questions Dr Dan’s medical/hashing qualifications]

“…and I’ve even drawn a special sheep on-back for Ant & Helen. “ “They’re not here” “Oh bugger”  [Dr Dan’s hash suffers an early set-back] 

”That sheep looks dead by the way” “Look, I’m a doctor, I can’t draw” “Your lot can’t usually write either” “OK, so I can’t draw and I can’t write….can we please get going now?”

“Is that a circle or a sheep? Or is it a prescription? What does it say - take 2 a day orally?” “I think the ‘R’ stands for ‘rectally’” “No, it’s just a ‘REGROUP’, OK?!” [Dr Dan suffers numerous other setbacks]

“Summer….summer!!!”  “What happens when the season changes…does her name change too? “ “Sutumn…..Wing….Sprummer?” [Roz defends her hound’s name against all-comers]

“CPU alert - young calves sighted!” “Aww they’re quite cute actually.…sh*t no, that one’s chasing me!”  [Jo goes from blasé to balls-out in the space of 2 seconds]

“Could we have a Long/Short option for Roger’s speech?” “Would On-Inn encourage him?” “No, but  On-On might do - maybe Off-Off would get the message across?” [Roger’s 3 & 5 mile speech goes down well]

”This is nice - I like this pub” [Jo tucks into her chips] “Well, you were here at Christmas, remember you got a signed photo of Mike Bushell?” [Matt illuminates]  “Oh, was that this pub….I thought I recognised it from somewhere” [Jo single-handedly challenges the concept of the Essex Blonde with the Rose Av Redhead?]
